Tips/ Questions to Ask
| Video cameras are not created equally. Many shoot in Hi8 or Super VHS which provides a higher quality than the standard camcorder. The best quality, color, and sharpness are digital camcorders, like the Canon XL1. |
| Always ask for a 3-chip CCD camera to get the best quality. Also ask about digital camcorders. Digital is not Analog! Analog tapes are what play in your VCR. Hi8 is also an analog camera, a digital camera will produce greater results. |
| Ask to view a "Brides" copy of the tape. This will give you an idea of what the quality will be like when you get yours. |
| Do they use wireless microphones? They should. |
| You will not be allowed to edit your own tape. If you really want to edit it yourself ask if you can get the raw footage or "Master tape" |
| Is the videographer unobtrusive? They should be. |
| What do they wear?..It should be appropriate for your event |
| What back up equipment do they have? It should be comparable in quality to the original. |
| Price? What's the hourly rate? Overtime charges? Payment terms? Get contract |
| Do they use 1 camera or 2?. If 2 cameras is the second operator an extra charge? |
| What kind of lighting do they use? |
| When making the booking, Make sure you give them specific instructions for time, place, and the offciant's name and phone numbers so they can check for any specific rules. |
